Deacon Mark Hamlet
Deacon
Mark Hamlet was ordained in June 1995 and served
the St. John Neumann parish in Austin and the
Austin Diocese before moving to Giddings in 2004
to serve St. Margaret’s Parish. Mark and
his wife, Cynthia, met at the
University
of
Dallas
where they were students. They both
converted to Catholicism as young adults and
shared a love for mission work in
Mexico
. He earned his MBA at UD and then spent
more than 16 years working professionally and
living in
Venezuela
,
Mexico
, and
Boston
. Mark, Cynthia and their six children moved
to
Austin
in 1988 so he could continue his management
career in international and domestic sales,
marketing and business development in the medical
device industry. He retired in 2004 to
dedicate more time to ministry. He asked the
Diocese where his services were needed and that
dialog led him to St. Margaret’s.
Deacon Mark sees diaconal ministry as a way to
help build up the Body of Christ. He loves
parish ministry, especially adult spiritual
enrichment programs such as RCIA, Bible study,
“Christ Renews His Parish” and marriage and
family ministry. He has also been active in
the Diocese of Austin in ecumenical and
inter-religious ministry. Cynthia passed
away early in 2007 after struggling with cancer.
When Deacon Mark is not serving the church or
enjoying his family and grandchildren, he tends to
his small farm or finds opportunities to go ocean
sailing.

Luis Alberto Cáceres González
Son of
Rito Antonio Cáceres and Luz del Carmen González.
I am number six of nine brothers and sisters; from
who four are men and five are women. I
attended elementary school in the small town where
I was born and raised. Then, I entered the
work force and at the same time finished my high
school education.
In
1999, I entered the Seminario Mayor de Bucaramanga
in Colombia, where I completed my studies in
philosophy and then, I was accepted to continue
with all the studies in theology. After two
years of attending the theology courses, I spent a
year at the Tipaconque Parish in Colombia Soon
after; I was selected by my Bishop to come to the
United States so that I could finish my studies in
theology. I was appointed to the Diocese of
Austin to collaborate as a priest for a five
–year period after all my studies are completed.
At the present time, I am finishing the last year
in theology at the Santa Maria Seminary in
Houston, Texas in conjunction; I am serving as a
deacon at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in
Giddings, Texas.

Hijo de Rito
Antonio Cáceres y Luz del Carmen González; soy
el número seis entre nueve hermanos de los cuales
cuatro son hombres y cinco son mujeres.
Realicé mis estudios de primaria en una pequeña
escuela en la vereda en la cual nací y me crié.
Luego, para terminar mis estudios secundarios tuve
que viajar a la capital de mi país y allí trabajé
y al mismo tiempo terminé la secundaria.
En el año
de 1999, ingresé al Seminario Mayor de
Bucaramanga, Colombia, donde curse mis studios de
filosofía y luego fuí aceptado para continuar
los studios teólogicos. Depués de dos años
de teología tuve un año de experiencia pastoral
en la parroquia de Tipaconque, Colombia.
Luego fuí seleccionado por mi Obispo para venir a
los Estados Unidos a terminar los estudios teológicos
para luego posteriormente como presbítero
colaborar pastoralmente con la Diócesis de Austin
por un periodo aproximado de cinco años. En
estos momentos estoy terminando mi último año de
teología en el seminario Santa María de Houston,
Texas y sirviendo en el ministerio diacononal en
la parroquia Santa Margarita en Giddings,
Texas.
