St.
Margaret’s Catholic Church Religious Education
Mission Statement
The goal of the Religious Education
Program is to provide St. Margaret's public school students with an opportunity
to receive a formal religious education which will assist in the formation of
their faith and values. Specific areas which guide the achievement of this goal
are: prayer, the sacraments, scripture, issues of morality, doctrine, peace and
justice, Christian values, church history and community and service. The
religious education program is structured to assist parents in their role of
primary educators of their children through their own word and example. Active
participation by the parents is vital to the reinforcement of what is taught in
the classroom. Participation at Sunday Mass will support, enhance and nourish
the Word and ideals presented to the children.
Participation in the preparation to receive the sacraments is also an integral
part of the religious education program. Parents are directly involved in the
preparation and planning for: First Penance (Sacrament of Reconciliation), First
Eucharist and Confirmation.
